 Dr. Brenda Vozza
Medical Director
Dr. Brenda Vozza has been in practice in the East Texas area for 20 years. She is Board Certified in General Adult Internal Medicine and also in Palliative/Hospice Care. After completing medical school at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies in 1995, she went on to complete her residency at Albert Einstein in New York City. As a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Vozza isn’t only well-known among her patients, but also amongst her colleagues though a variety of memberships and affiliations including President of the Rusk County Medical Society , President of the Board of Directors of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians, Core Faculty Member for the Residency Program at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center and Chief of Staff at Select Specialty Hospital.

She is passionate about teaching the new generation of doctors. Along with teaching the Residents, she is involved in the General Internal Medicine Statewide Preceptor Partnership in conjunction with the Texas Medical Association to show medical students what life is like in the real world of medicine practice. Dr. Vozza also volunteers her time and expertise to the Alpine Clinic in Longview, to take care of those less fortunate in her community.

Dr. Brenda Vozza hosts a monthly walk in conjunction with the Texas Medical Association called Walk with a Doc. This occurs on the first Sunday of the month at Paul Boorman Trail. This is a fun way for her to share some medical knowledge and get in good exercise with those who attend.

Dr. Vozza’s guiding philosophy as a physician is to provide the highest quality of care in a pleasant, patient-friendly environment. As both a physician and a mother, she is sensitive to the needs of the community, which is why she spends time volunteering with the Girl Scouts of America, donating to charitable events and fundraisers. Dr. Vozza keeps her skills sharp by attending multiple continuing education seminars a year. She enjoys spending time with her two girls and traveling when she can.


 Michelle Adams
Administrator

Michelle Adams is our Administrator and is responsible for assuring professional and ethical healthcare practices by our staff. She brings twenty-nine years of varying health care related experience to our team. She has been with us for nine years. Michelle started as a volunteer when we opened and continues over our volunteer program today. She is actively involved in all areas of our service. Michelle organizes and facilitates all weekly IDT meetings and ensures compliance with State, Federal, and accrediting agency requirements.

Michelle holds an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree, with focus on funeral services and bereavement counseling.

Michelle has two sons at home, and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with them, attending their sports activities, cooking, and working in her yard.


 Joyce Nayfa, RN-BC, CHCM
Supervising Nurse
Joyce Nayfa, RN-BC, CHCM is our Supervising Nurse and has been with Angel Care Hospice since 2008 when we opened. She is also the alternate administrator. Joyce has been in healthcare for 35+ years.

Joyce is a Certified Hospice Case Manager, is Board Certified in Geriatrics (Gerontological Nursing) ANCC, is a Past Fellow: NADONA (National Association for Directors of Nursing Administrations) and has held Past certifications in MDS and Director of Nursing.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, music, cooking, and just enjoying her family.


Amanda Sebastian, RN, CHCM
Alternate Supervising Nurse

Amanda Sebastian, RN, CHCM is the Alternate Director of Nursing at Angel Care Hospice. Amanda graduated from Tyler Junior College in 2011 and transitioned from acute care nursing to hospice in 2015. Amanda is a Certified Hospice Case Manager. Amanda grew up in Whitehouse and currently resides in Gladewater, Texas. Amanda is just as passionate about caring for patients as she is animals. “I have always known I wanted to become a nurse since a young age. I could not imagine myself doing anything different than caring for people.”


Joe Ballard, Chaplain
Chaplain

Joe Ballard is responsible for the spiritual well-being and comfort of our Angel Care patients and families. Joe also serves as Senior Pastor of Grace Hill Church in the Troup community. Joe is a graduate of the Baptist Missionary Theological Seminary in Jacksonville and holds a Master of Arts degree in Religion. He is married to his wife Kristen and they have four children and five grandchildren. Joe enjoys spending time with his family and fishing when he has the opportunity and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.


Donna Tenner RN, CHCM
RN, Certificated Hospice Case Manager

Donna Tenner RN, CHCM has been a nurse for forty+ years. Donna has been a Registered Nurse for over half those years. She has nursed from one spectrum of the human life cycle to the other. Although being a labor and delivery nurse was rewarding, it did not satisfy this nurse professionally. Donna has been here at Angel Care Hospice since 2010. Donna believes all during her career as a nurse she was being end to the end of life cycle. Donna is a Certified Hospice Case Manager. “I am proud to be a hospice nurse. It has been the most rewarding part of my nursing career.” To be with families to support them during one of the most difficult times in their life and to listen to them reminisce about their loved ones you get a sense of who this person was and not who they are now dealing with a terminal illness.


Kathrine Henderson
Licensed Masters Social Worker

Kathrine Henderson-Carldwell is a licensed master level social worker. She has worked as our hospice social worker since 2012. Kathrine attended Jarvis Christian College, Kilgore Junior College, and Stephen F. Austin State University. She obtained an Associate of Arts degree from Kilgore Junior College. She went on to obtain both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin. She graduated at the top of her class while pursuing her master’s degree and she was inducted into the Theta Omega Chapter Phi Alpha Honor Society.


Robert Fry, RN
Chaplain

Robert Fry is RN and Chaplain for Angel Care Hospice. Robert joined the Air Force when he turned 18. He spent 6 years on active duty for USAF. The last 4 years he was an instructor in the Security Police Academy. In July of 1981 Robert went to Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary in Henderson, Texas. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Theology and went on to work on his Masters degree.
Robert then went to nursing school at Tyler Junior College. He worked at the local Henderson hospital until July 2019 when he started full time with Angel Care Hospice.
Robert is the Bi-Vocational pastor of Compton Community Bible Church.
Robert is married to his wife Connie who is also a nurse. They have several “fur-babies” for their children. Robert enjoys preaching, teaching, reading, fishing, skiing, and cooking.


Roxanne Nayfa
Bereavement Counselor, Chaplain

Roxanne Nayfa is responsible for community education, Bereavement Counselor, and she is a Chaplain. She has been with Angel Care for ten years. She has been in varying areas of healthcare for thirty years.

Roxanne holds a degree in Applied Science. She specializes in education and training in bereavement counseling. Roxanne provides support to the family and friends of those persons that have lost someone. That first year is sometimes very difficult, and Roxanne is there to help to guide those grieving persons for however long is necessary.

She is active with suicide prevention, counselling and care. She provides support to bereavement support groups in Rusk County and other surrounding communities. She is very active in the community.

Roxanne has a son and daughter that she enjoys spending time with.

Roxanne is a member of the TWCO (Troup Women’s Civic Organization), and is a member of the Lion’s Club in Henderson. She is a Henderson Area Chamber Ambassador. Roxanne is currently serving on the Henderson Chamber Board and is a Citizens Police Academy Alumni member.

Jessica Maxwell RN
Certified Hospice Case Manager

Jessica Maxwell RN, CHCM is one of our hospice RN’s and our Disaster Coordinator. Jessica has worked for since 2015. She worked in home health for 5 years prior to hospice. She has a background as a surgical circulator. Jessica has been in the medical field for the past 12 years, she started as a patient care associate and worked her way up through RN school. She currently is working on her Master of Science Degree through UT Arlington and is working toward her palliative care certification. Jessica is a Certified Hospice Case Manager. Jessica enjoys reading, crocheting, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family in her free time.
